Guidelines for Panel Chairs

  1. Arrive at the meeting room 10 minutes early and meet briefly with the speakers.

  2. Start the session promptly at the announced time.

  3. Introduce each speaker with the title of the presentation and his/her institutional affiliation. Make sure that you pronounce his/her name properly.

  4. The session is 75 minutes long.  Presentations last 15 minutes each. The discussion are planned to take place after the panel’s three or four presentations. Depending on the number of presentations, there will thus be 15 or 30 minutes for discussions.

  5. Politely inform the speakers when they have two minutes to go. 

  6. Stop presentations after 15 minutes. Regardless of personal preferences, please be strict with speakers who try to continue past their assigned time.

  7. When the announced presentations have been completed, accept no or only short questions concerning the comprehension of the presentation. The discussion will take place after all presentations have been given.

  8. End the session promptly at the announced time.
